Youth Leader Training
Youth Leader Training starts in the troop. Troop Youth Leader Training is where youth members of the Boy Scouts of America learn the basics of being a patrol leader. The Scoutmaster for their junior leaders conducts this one-day workshop.

Troop Junior Leader Training uses the Scoutmaster's Junior Leader Training Kit, which includes a workbook and videotape. Upon completion of this training, the Trained Leader emblem may be worn below the junior leader's badge of office.

Den Chief Training is available for Boy Scouts that offer service and leadership to Cub Scout Packs as Den Chiefs. After completing this program, the den chief is entitled to wear the Trained Leader patch below the Den Chief badge of office.

The National Youth Leader Training Conference (NYLTC) is a more in depth junior leadership training experience. This seven-day course is intended for senior patrol leaders, patrol leaders and other youth leaders. It is offered annually by our council, and conducted in a camping situation at the J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation. Youth members staff this course supported by adult leaders.

This weeklong training experience is the ultimate in youth leadership training. In addition to a review of basic Scout skills, seminars on topics such as "Responsibilities of a Leader", "Effective Communication" and "Delegation" are covered.

National Youth Leader Instructor Training Camp (NYLITC)
The purpose of NYLIC is to provide the necessary training to local council Junior Leader Training Conference youth staff members to enable them to conduct a successful week long leadership training experience for Boy Scouts from troops in their local council.

The weeklong program is conducted at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. For complete information about this year's program, visit www.philmont.com or check the Philmont Training Center schedule.
