Scout Leader Fast Start Orientation Training
When new Cub Scout, Boy Scout or Venturing leaders are selected in Scouting, it is essential that they receive immediate information that will help them get started. Fast Start training helps new leaders understand what is expected of them in their new job.
Fast Start is the first step in the continuum of training for all Scout leaders. Its objective is to provide all the information and resources for new leaders to conduct their first meeting, along with guidance for the meetings that follow. Specific training sessions for each leadership role are included. Fast Start is available in two formats, online and video. The videotape can be borrowed or purchased through the Strong Scout Shop at the council office. The online Cub Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader and Venture Leader Fast Start Training is an interactive training experience that provide the training appropriate to your Scouting position. These courses should take no more than an hour to complete. They are available through the eLearning Center.
The following Fast Start courses are available:
Cub Scout Leader
Learn more about the Cub Scout program and get the information needed to confidently run your first den or pack meeting.
Boy Scout Leader
You'll learn the aims and purposes of the Boy Scouts of America's core program, then zero in on the job. You'll cover the seven parts of the troop meeting, the troop committee, outdoor program, and other basic concepts of Scouting, all in one short online experience. It's the best way for someone new to the program to quickly grasp how troop Scouting works and where additional resources can be found.
Venturing Leader
This training covers Venturing Methods, getting your crew up and running, leadership and organization, activities, advancement, the Venturing uniform, and more!

Venture Crew Orientation
The orientation covers specific leadership skills in program planning, money-earning, and running effective committees. This presentation should be a first step in training effective crew leaderships also available.
eLearning Center
The eLearning courses can help adult leaders deliver quality Scouting experiences to youth. A log-in is required, however anyone may create a user account and view the courses. Registered members of the BSA may provide their member numbers (as part of the user profile) to receive credit:
