Otetiana Council Scouting Historical Society
Who We Are
Otetiana Council has along and distinguished history, which is faithfully documented and preservedby the Otctiana Council Scouting Historical Society. Consisting of a small group of dedicated Scouters, the historical society meets once a month to sort incoming donations and prepare new exhibits for the display case in the Strong Scout Shop atrium.

Some previous exhibit themes include "Historical Camping Equipment", "Merit Badges" and "Camp Otetiana." The displays are changed bimonthly. The primary focus of the collection is on the Rochester region and consists of thousands of documents, patches, photographs, books, uniforms, prints, camping gear and miscellaneous ephemera that collectively tells the story of the Scouting movement.

A great deal of effort is put forth by volunteers in an effort to organize and maintain artifacts in accordance with professional standards. Additionally, plans are underway to develop a website with infromation on council history and a virtual patch gallery.

The society is always looking for new members, and anyone interested in joining is welcome. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM, at the Scout Servicenter. The society always welcomes donations of old Scouting memorabilia and camping gear. When cleaning out around the house, please consider a donation to the Society.
