Camping Opportunities
Lets Go Camping
Sunlight touches the peak of a nearby mountain, then slowly wanders down to the valleys below. The cool air is filled with the smells of pine and hemlock, soon to be mixed with the aroma of a hearty breakfast! A paddle across the lake . . . and another day begins in the great outdoors!

Say “Scouting”, and to many you also say “camping” . . . the backcountry . . . wood smoke from a campfire . . . backpacks . . . tents . . . mountain streams! It's all there just waiting for those who belong to the Boy Scout of America.

Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, set up the first summer camp for boys in 1907 at Brownsea Island, England, to test his theories about Scouting for boys. Since that time, the Outdoor Program has been an important part of the Scouting program.
Council Camp Properties
TheSeneca Waterways Council owns and operates three excellent camp properties in New York State: the J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation in the Bristol Hills, Naples, New York; Massawepie Scout Camps in the Adirondack Mountains, Tupper Lake, New York; and Camp Babcock Hovey in the Finger Lakes region.

These facilities offer a wide range of camping, hiking and outdoor opportunities, including: miles of hiking trails, streams, ponds and lakes, open fields, rustic camp sites, sheltered camp sites, tent camping sites, cabins, and lodges with modern kitchens and restroom facilities.

Summer Camps
In July and August each year, the Seneca Waterways Council operates summer camps for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, and Venturers!

Cub Scouts attend the fun filled Cub Scout Adventure Camp at the J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation. Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Varsity Scouts spend a week or two at Camp Pioneer at Massawepie Scout Camps, or Camp Babcock Hovey.

Treks
The Adirondack High Adventure Trek Center operates out of the Massawepie Scout Camps each summer, offering a wide variety of treks to satisfy those who prefer to spend a week in the backcountry or on Adirondack waterways.

Scouts who want to experience even more adventure can check out some of the National High Adventure areas such as the Philmont Scout Ranch, the Northern Tier High Adventure Area, or the Florida Sea Base.

National Jamboree
Every four years, the National Scout Jamboree is held at Fort A. P. Hill in Virginia. Imagine going camping with 36,000 other Scouts from all over the country. Or if you are interested in a more international adventure, attend a World Scout Jamboree.

High Adventure Bases
Scouts who want to experience even more adventure can check out some of the National High Adventure areas such as the Philmont Scout Ranch, the Northern Tier High Adventure Area, or the Florida Sea Base.
